Alors rapidement, les news toutes chaudes que je vais ajouter au premier post:

- Buffy Season 9 comprendra 25 issues et commencera début Septembre
- Angel and Faith (nom du comics Angel annoncé) comprendra 25 issues et commencera fin août
- le programme est donc que les deux commencent et finissent au même moment, sur environ 2 ans.
- Joss va écrire la première issue de Buffy
- Ensuite Joss co-écrira et révisera les scripts
- l'auteur principal (avec Joss) de la saison 9 est Andrew Chambliss (big yay pour les fans de Dollhouse, c'était le petit bizut de la whedonteam qui a largement fait ses preuves et qui écrit maintenant pour The Vampire Diaries et Spartacus).
- L'artiste principal de Buffy sera Georges Jeanty (comme en saison
- l'auteur principal d'Angel & Faith sera Christos Cage
- l'artiste principale d'Angel & Faith sera Rebekah ISaacs (on parle de cette dernière plus haut)
- Jo Chen en assurera aussi la couverture alternative

Andrew Chambliss, je ne connais pas du tout son travail, mais ses réponses lors de l'interview m'ont vraiment bien plu ^^ Et il a l'air d'être apprécié pour son travail sur Dollhouse qui plus est, donc c'est une bonne chose !

J'aime bien les réponses qu'il a donné pendant l'interview x) Et comment il parle de Stefan et Angel. J'ai vraiment hâte d'y être.

Je pense qu'Andrew peut faire de bonnes choses avec Buffy, j'attends de le voir à l'oeuvre.
Christos Cage est d'après ce que j'en sais un choix phénoménal pour Angel (enfin sur le papier, c'est un auteur qui dans ses travaux indépendant fait des choses sombres et un poil tordu, surnaturel sur fond de film noir...donc ça correspond total), mais je n'ai jamais rien lu de lui selon mes souvenirs...

Dark Horse Comics: What are you most excited for readers to take away from reading Buffy Season 9?

Andrew Chambliss: I’m really excited for readers to see a little bit of themselves in Buffy in Season 9. Buffy’s facing so many questions that we all deal with when we’re in our twenties—figuring out who we are, where we’ve been, where we’re going—that I think people are really going to be able to relate to her journey. This really is Buffy figuring out how to be an adult, albeit doing it with all the Slayer fun and headaches thrown in. For me, what excites me so much about Season 9 is that we’re trying to tell smaller stories that focus on the core group of characters, much like the TV show. For someone who didn’t work on the original series (but was a huge fan!), the idea of trying to emulate something that’s such a touchstone has been both thrilling and a challenge. And I hope that’s the other thing readers take away from the season—walking away feeling like these comics could have been something they watched back when Buffy was on TV.*


DH: In your opinion, why do you think so many people relate to Buffy so easily?

AC: I think people relate to Buffy because her stories are so emotionally grounded. Joss always approaches character in a way that starts with an honest, human emotion, and then he finds the cool genre story to serve as a vehicle for that emotion. The story is always about Buffy as a person first, and then Buffy as a Slayer. You don’t need to relate to the supernatural stuff to understand what Buffy’s going through. And I think this relates to what I said above, but I really do believe that everyone can find something in Buffy that they’ve been through themselves.*


DH: How different was your approach to writing comics from that of writing screenplays?

AC: On a storytelling level, my approach to television and comic writing isn’t that different. For both, I try to find the basic emotional arc of the story and build the plot from that. At the end of the day, the story always needs to be about character and grounded in emotional reality. The mantra I learned from Joss when I was on Dollhouse about writing was “emotion and clarity above all else.” This same mantra carries over to comic-book writing as well. Where things really differ for me is in the craft. In television, you’re laying out a blueprint for other people to build off—the director, actors, editors, etc. So oftentimes you leave a bit more wiggle room for other people to fill in the blanks in a script. In comic-book writing, I find that I need to take on a few more roles. When I’m writing, I often have to think as a writer, director, and film editor. The format requires you to be much more specific about what you’re seeing on the page than television writing does. That being said, comic-book writing is definitely a hugely collaborative medium between the writer, editors, and artist, and I’m always amazed at the things other people bring to the table. At the end of the day, I think my favorite thing about comic writing is the fact that I can write anything an artist can draw. Not always the case in television, where you have to worry about scheduling and budgets!*** *


DH: If you had time to write up your own original comic-book series, what would it be about?

AC: I’m a Cold War submarine nerd. My dad served aboard a nuclear submarine before I was born, and I’ve heard so many stories about that world that I’d love to explore a Cold War sub in comic-book form. Of course, my take on it would definitely have a genre bent to it, probably of the postapocalyptic variety. Probably? Who am I kidding? It would definitely be of the postapocalyptic variety.*


DH: If you had a superpower, what would it be?*

AC: I wish I had the superpower to stop time. Kind of like a snooze button for life. Between television and comic writing, my days get pretty packed, so it would be nice to be able to freeze time—and catch up on all sorts of things I’m finding myself doing less and less of these days…watching TV, playing video games, reading, and spending time with my friends.**

Buffy’s toughest ‘Season Nine’ challenge won’t be supernatural

Sarah Michelle Gellar may have moved on from the Hellmouth, playing twins in the new CW show “Ringer,” but Buffy is still doing what she’s always done — staking (and breaking) hearts.

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Nine” hits comic book stores this week, and new “Buffy” writer, “The Vampire Diaries” alum Andrew Chambliss, said it’s back to the basics for Buffy and her Scooby gang. After the destruction of the Seed at the end of Season Eight, the characters are now learning to operate in a world without magic. Chambliss said it’s an opportunity to explore Buffy’s character.

“Buffy is so much fun to write because she’s so relatable,” Chambliss said via email. “Sure, she may be the Chosen One, and she can stake a vampire in her sleep, but at the end of the day she’s just like us. She struggles to do the right thing, to figure out what the right thing is. And most of the time, her biggest problems are the ones that have nothing to do with slaying.”

In some ways, the new series is a return to the world Buffy and her pals occupied during their Sunnydale years on the small screen.

“Buffy will be trying to sort out her life in the way that most twentysomethings do,” Chambliss said. “This struggle will play a central role in Buffy’s journey throughout the season, and I think it’s fair to say that some of the season’s biggest surprises and challenges will come from the non-supernatural problems that Buffy is going to face.”

It’s a decision that comes from experience, “Buffy” creator Joss Whedon told fans at Comic-Con. Taking the new slayers out of the ruins of Sunnydale and making them part of a worldwide demon-fighting operation “became an albatross,” he said.

“Kind of the point of Season Eight for me was, ‘Hey, we’re a comic, and we can do these things,’ ” Whedon said. “People were more interested in her life than the fact that we could draw bigger things …. Having discovered that we can do more than the television show, I’ve discovered that I don’t really want to.”

That’s not to say the Slayer won’t face her share of beasties.

“Magic has left the world, and its absence is still rippling across Earth,” Chambliss said. “Early on, Buffy will see how this is affecting the vampires that she’s fighting. I won’t give away specifics, but Buffy will be dealing with a new kind of vampire menace.”

Here’s some more insight from Chambliss:

On writing Buffy: “When I sit down and get into the headspace to write Buffy, I end up drawing on a lot of my own feelings and experiences — and writing is fun when I feel so connected to the character I’m writing. The other thing that makes writing Buffy so much fun is her voice — her turns of phrase, the obligatory ‘-ey’ at the end of words, and all the other idiosyncrasies that are just pure Buffy (or maybe I should say pure Joss since there’s so much of him in the way Buffy speaks). Writing in Buffy’s voice is definitely challenging, but it’s a good challenge and one that I really enjoy.”

On his favorite characters: “So far, Spike lands at the top of my list of favorite characters to write. I think that’s for several reasons. One, he’s British and it’s just plain old fun to write with those cadences and syntax. Two, he’s a bad boy, which I am decidedly not, so it’s fun to step out of my persona and into his. And three, he and Buffy have been through so much together that there’s so much rich emotional history to draw from when I’m sitting down to write a Spike scene. I was a big fan of Buffy and Spike’s journey together in the later seasons of Buffy so it’s fun to be able to call back to some of those storylines.”

On adding to the Buffyverse: “I have to say, I’m also having fun writing another character. There’s a character named Severin that Buffy teams up with early in the season, and I think part of the reason I’m having so much fun with him is because he’s the first new character I’m writing for the Buffyverse. It’s fun to be able to create a new character and fill in all the details — from his backstory, the way he speaks, all the way down to weighing in on very specific things like his hair and wardrobe.”

On taking the mantle: “So many things go through my mind when I think about getting the chance to be a part of Buffy. … The Buffy TV series is such a big part of what made me want to be a TV writer, and here I was with the opportunity to write for the Buffyverse. It’s such an honor to be able to step into this world and work with Joss to continue it. At the same time, I also view it as such a huge responsibility. Buffy isn’t just important to me, but it’s important to so many people. There are so many fans who have connected and related to Buffy for a very long time and I hope to continue that through Season Nine. Fortunately, I have Joss and the Dark Horse Team helping me every step of the way, and I think that fans will definitely see that we’re really trying to tell stories that feel like they’re continuing the series.”

J'suis une énorme fan d'Andrew alors j'suis un peu gaga. J'aurais trop aimé qu'il écrive des épisodes à l'époque de la série. Vu ce qu'il dit ici, vu comme il écrit le comics et vu ses épisodes de Dollhouse...Mamma Mia ça aurait été dans la veine de Drew Goddard, pur bonheur

Je ne connaissais pas Andrew avant qu'il rejoigne la franchise Buffy pour la saison 9, mais je dois dire que ça a l'air d'être une perle d'adorablitude sur les vids et interviews, et j'ai hâte de voir son travail ♥
